Overview

AEGIS Fire Control System / Operational Readiness Test System (FCS/ORTS) Technician Trainer (SCSTC-2023-19139):

 

Bowhead seeks to network with Navy Aegis SPY Radar Baseline 9C Trainer/ Technicians for upcoming or potential opportunities to join our team training fleet sailors at the Aegis Training and Readiness Center (ATRC) located at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren, VA. The position is fully funded and in the first year of a five-year contract.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for Fleet sailors in support of Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Virginia.
  • Conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical lab training.
  • Serve as a Journeyman Instructor to train CG/DDG sailors in the performance of preventative and corrective maintenance for CG and DDG ships with Baseline 7.1 and higher AEGIS units on:
    • MK-99 AEGIS Fire Control System
    • MK84 400Hz Power Distribution System
    • Air-Cooled Solid-State Frequency Power Generation System

 

  • As required, provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for ATRC courses supporting present and future courses development of the AEGIS MK-99 AEGIS Fire Control System/MK84 400Hz Power Distribution System/Ballistic Missile Defense Technician courses.
    • Provide dynamic teaching & training as well as assessment that require advanced knowledge of U.S. Navy Aegis Combat Systems Capabilities and Limitations to the officer level.
    • Review and analyze U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System Engineering Capabilities and Limitations and U.S. Navy Operational and Tactical doctrine and integrates and conceptualizes the execution of Doctrine optimizing the application of ship's Combat Systems capabilities and limitation in the dynamic operational tactical environment.
    • Conduct dynamic assessment of the sailors’ abilities to comply with approved maintenance and operational procedures and thereafter provides formal appraisal of performance with recommendations for improvement and methods to maintain technical and tactical proficiency.
    • Observe and assesses contemporaries during Practice and Certification Teaches per requirements NAVEDTRA 135.
    • Prepare, review, and customize curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.
    • Support Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates; conduct training gap analysis provides formal feedback and recommendation for Course improvement.
    • Document the training conducted with specifics of the individual areas / watch station and is responsible for generation of a formal assessment of measure of success via written report.
    • Develop, test, maintain, and deliver moderately complex Aegis training programs and related materials in support of ATRC training objectives.
    • Establish and review course content and objectives.
    • Conduct training sessions and develop criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
    • Maintain records of training activities, participant progress and program effectiveness.
    • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

    Qualifications:

     

    • Five (5) years of Experience with the required system or process as either a maintenance technician or operator with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in an apprentice level training environment. Of the five years, one (1) year of Experience as an instructor or facilitator in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.
    • Additional qualification possesses NEC 1148/V28A (FCS/ORTS COTS) or NEC 1143/V23A (FCS/ORTS MILSPEC) or NEC 1114/V14A FCS BMD 3.6) or NEC 1094/1095/V05A/V06A FCS BMD 4.0/5.0 and MSS TACAP MILSPEC or COTS and
    • Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.
    • SCSTC/ATRC/TACTRAGRU is a significant plus.
    • Travel may be up required to 5% of time.

     

    Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds. 
    • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
    • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
