Overview

Technical Writer/Editor (LC-2024-20216):

 

Bowhead is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to support Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division on a part time, on call basis. The contract supports business services in support of Code 80 and other organizations associated with or sponsoring the NSWCCD. The business services include Program Management and Planning, Finance, Logistics, Security, Space Planning, Safety, Administrative Services, Technical Editing, Records Management, and Computer Engineering and IT support.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts/edits manuals and guides for a variety of subjects specific the Navy's ABMD program. Their duties include researching topics, writing documents and editing publications.
  • Responsible for generating/editing content while working both independently and collaboratively with a team. The position researches products, technology or concepts to be documented and easily understood
  • Tasking involves managing several large technical documents that require updating on a regular basis

Qualifications

  • Education - BA in English or Communications would be a plus
  • At least 3 Years of experience
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
