Umiaq Design is looking for an experienced AutoCAD Technician to support a growing civil and mechanical engineering design department. Projects will include large and small project throughout Alaska. Typical projects include design of water and sewer systems, facility site development, landfill and sewer lagoon, roads and pads, and bulk fuel systems. Additional work may include survey support, developing plats, as-built drawings, and easements documents.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The AutoCAD Technician will work with a group of other AutoCAD Technicians, under the direction of the Engineering Department Manager, supporting engineering staff and Project Managers. The AutoCAD Technician will be responsible for development of design drawings in accordance with project requirements and company standards. Some projects may require the AutoCAD Technician to prepare preliminary designs based on criteria provided by the engineers and incorporate red-line changes to drawings. The AutoCAD Technician will be responsible for maintaining clean and up-to-date drawing files and structure.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
The AutoCAD Technician must be proficient with AutoCAD Architecture Engineering & Construction Collection and the development of Civil and Mechanical Engineering design drawings. Additional skills include: strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability to either work on a team or alone, ability to apply drafting guidelines, and ability to interpret survey data, maps and graphical data. GIS software experience preferred, but not required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Three, or more, years of experience working as an AutoCAD Technician producing civil engineering design/construction drawings. Alternatively, an AAS in Computer Aided Drafting and Design would account for two of the three years of require experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The successful applicant must be able to work at a computer for 8, or more, hours per day, and the ability to lift rolls, or boxes, of paper weighing up to 25 lbs.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work will be performed in a no-smoking office setting.
Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs
All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.
If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
