UIC Bowhead Transport seeks a highly experienced Business Development management professional specialized in identifying and pursuing federal opportunities in an effort to catalyze new business growth both nationally and internationally (Pacific Wide) utilizing our Bowhead Transport SBA 8(a).


As a Business Development Manager, this position requires extensive experience with Federal RFP, RFI, Sources Sought and Sole Source submissions.  BD manager will take responsibility for developing a continuous and ongoing pipeline of opportunities and proposals.  This position will require independently managing and maturing the capture opportunities from initial identification to completed, on time, submissions.

The individual will be responsible for daily monitoring of government web sites and all other means of gaining awareness of any / all Federal opportunities that are well suited to Bowhead Transport’s capabilities. 

Manager will seek and develop new business opportunities both Federal and commercial expanding our service into new regions and, lucrative markets.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in the commercial marine cargo and services industry, a complete understanding of Federal opportunities and how to pursue them, superior communication skills and an understanding of international markets.

Individual must have experience working with a variety of US military executive offices and ideally would have an existing network of contacts through federal and military organizations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, mature, maintain and submit on a qualified pipeline of competitive opportunities that support Bowhead Transport’s variety of marine services.
  • Take the lead with capture efforts that effectively mature new business opportunities resulting in the successful submission of winning proposals.
  • Actively participate and develop winning proposals coordinating efforts with Bowhead leadership, subject matter experts, regional contacts, proposal managers, pricing, and talent acquisition teams.
  • Establish effective communication networks with government stakeholders and industry partners to pre-qualify opportunities and gain a better understanding of operational requirements.
  • Build and foster new relationships with government stakeholders and commercial industry partners.
  • Identify, plan, and execute strategies to maintain and expand our existing services.
  • Attend conferences, trade shows and private meetings to further expand our network of contacts and develop new lines of business Nationally and Internationally. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education plus five (5) years commercial marine operations experience and/or business development experience in a government setting.
    • Qualified experience successfully leading new business capture efforts on prime competitive bids valued between 1M – 50M
    • Successful record of competing for and winning contracts both commercial and Federal.
    • Developing solutions, project plans, conducting competitive assessments, and shaping strategy.
    • Quantified experience writing and reviewing proposals.
    • Effective communication skills - both oral and written (Must be able to communicate with managers, customers, and government stakeholders at all levels).
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
    • Proven ability to work remotely, managing individual workload, priorities, and schedule with little supervision and must possess the highest business, work, and ethical standards. Experience working with DoD prime system contractors/integrators.
    • Experience developing and closing on new business opportunities with the Federal Government, Department of Defense or other military organizations.
  • Reside in or near Anchorage Alaska or Seattle WA. Other potential secondary locations that would be considered are Oregon, California and Hawaii.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. An in-scope DoD clearance is preferred. US Citizenship is a requirement.
